The family of a Kenyan man in New Jersey is appealing to the US and Kenyan governments to help their kin return to Kenya.
Patrick Lumumba Okeyo has been in the US since 1992, and his family in Kenya says his problems started when he brought his wife to the US from Kenya to live with him. Their marriage broke up soon afterwards and Patrick got re-married. The family says as a result of the ex-wife’s jealousy from his new marriage, she called US authorities accusing Patrick of being a terrorist and being in the US illegally. The US court however later determined that Patrick was not guilty of terrorism and awarded him damages. He has however not received his damages to-date and his family is appealing to both governments to help him get the damages he was awarded and to also facilitate his return home.
