When it was enacted last year, the revised traffic law was hailed as a necessity that would drive discipline on Kenyan roads and drastically reduce road carnage. Especially targeted by the Traffic Amendment Act 2012 was drunk driving blamed for many accidents and subsequent deaths. But after the initial scare of the new law, motorists have gone back to familiar dangerous indulgences emboldened by fact the law enforcement is largely been ignored.
