Former House Speakers Kenneth Marende and Francis ole Kaparo are among leaders angling for their old job at the National Assembly, as the polls team plans to gazette the ï¬nal list of elected MPs and senators tomorrow.
Justice minister Eugene Wamalwa is also said to be interested in the seat.
Mr Marende is expected to be sponsored by the United Republican Party to vie for the post.
Mr Marende yesterday said he would rely on his previous performance to run for the seat.
“I am lobbying across the board and I am hopeful that
the new House will consider my performance in the last Parliament to re-elect me,†he said.
Kajiado West MP Moses ole Sakuda, a close ally of Mr Kaparo, said Mr Kaparo would bank on URP’s numbers in the House in his quest for the seat.
Mr Wamalwa said he was still consulting.
Electoral commission chairman Issack Hassan yesterday told the Nation that his team would meet this morning to discuss the ï¬nal list of MPs and senators.
Once the list is published, the President is expected to issue a Gazette notice calling for the ï¬rst sitting of the new House.-Nation
