Police in Ol Kalou have arrested some 28 strippers in a major swoop carried out on Sunday night.
Among the suspected strippers were form four leavers who were attending a dancing competition within the town.
The strippers had moved into the town as a popular club held a three day dancing and competition thronged by hundreds of residents.
It is suspected that the strippers were targeting unsuspecting revelers to siphon their money.
According to area OCPD Wilson Kosgey, residents raised alarm over their clothing style and alerted the police.
“That is when we moved into the club and we were shocked to find almost all of them half naked. We arrested the 28 while others managed to escape,” he noted.
He said that the competition prompted them to wear tiny clothes as they were being paid Sh 500 after one won a particular dancing style.
“We suspect that the amount prompted them to wear that way to please the crowd. This is something that has never happened here and we will not allow such trend,” he said.
The suspects are being held at Ol Kalou police station as they await to be taken to court.
Rurii ward county representative Wahome Kamoche urged the county government to close down all such clubs entertaining such scenarios.
“We do not want to introduce prostitution in Nyandarua and we have to come up with harsh laws to prevent this.It is a shame that some of these are form four leavers who are even engaging in alcohol,” he said.
