Former Chief Justice Evan Gicheru, who had been reported missing on Thursday evening from Aberdare Country Club in Nyeri, has been found.
Police searched for him overnight and found him on Friday morning in the forest within the club’s sanctuary.
County Police Commander Agnes Lihabi confirmed that Mr Gicheru had been found and taken back to the club.
Journalists outside the gate were however barred from speaking to him.
LOST THEIR KEY
Mr Gicheru is said to have left his room in the company of his wife at around 5pm Thursday for tea at the restaurant.
When they returned to the room, they realised they did not have their key and the wife went to the reception to request for a spare.
Upon her return, she found him missing and raised the alarm. Police were alerted and began an immediate search that lasted the entire night.
Police and the family say the former CJ was diabetic and he fell in a thicket as he wandered in there and slept.
He has been evacuated and taken to hospital. Nyeri head of police operations Ephantus Kiura said justice Gicheru is ok with him.
“He is with me here and we are making arrangements to take him to hospital for check ups. He ok,” said Kiura. Nyeri County Commissioner Michael Mwangi said they took medics to the site to attend to the former CJ before they could evacuate him.
