Award winning Kenyan musicians Eric Wainaina and Iddi Achieng will be in Atlanta this weekend for the eagerly awaited music extravaganza dubbed Kanga & Kikoi Couture Concert .

The two will lead a pack of other artistes, including former Tusker Project Fame finalist Linda Muthama and comedian Walter Mong’are – popularly known as Nyambane – slated to be the Master of Ceremonies.

The event, which will also feature a Kanga and Kikoi fashion show, will open with a performance by musician KNel , Mandela the drummer and fashion designer Sarah Odingo.

Speaking to the Nation in Atlanta Monday, event coordinator, Mary Bowers, said Kenyans in and around Georgia have bought tickets in their hundreds. “This will be an event of a lifetime and we are encouraging Kenyans and friends of Kenya to come and experience what our artistes have to offer.

“We encourage people to dress up in Kanga and Kikois so the event can live up to its couture description,” said Ms Bowers.

The concert will be held on Saturday starting at 6pm at Kennesaw State University, some 20 miles West of the Georgia capital.

It comes barely a week after the conclusion of a high profile cultural festival in Washington DC during which Eric Wainaina and Iddi Achieng joined other artistes in representing Kenya.

The Atlanta event is organized by Atlanta Kenyan Professionals Association (AKPA).
