His is simply known as M’Marete and he describes himself as the brownest person among the Ameru people. His story is that of the ultimate outsider who became the intimate insider who charmed and won the hearts of the local people. This story is that of non other the 48 year old Abdul Rahim Dawood who made history on March 4th when he became the first non-indigenous person to be elected to Parliament in the Meru region when he was elected the North Imenti MP.
