Nasibu Abdul Juma aka Diamond Platnumz has put out another video that has so far garnered 125,000 views within 48 hours of its upload. The video to the song ‘Nana’, is a collaboration Flavour, a music heavyweight in his own right.
The song is another danceable love-tune and the choreography in its video is jaw-dropping.
His lyrics are done in the poetic arrangement of Swahili rather than the grammatical expression with a heavy west African influence. They express a lover’s fears for his lover that he has fallen so in love with, that he becomes paranoid of losing her to another man.
He seems to believe there’s people who are out to steal his lover from him. He tries to assure her that any inadequacies he may have are just because he is not yet the man he longs to be. Of course there’s the pledge that things will definitely get better on the financial side of their lives too.
Diamond who had a public fallout with Nigerian artiste Davido, his erstwhile collaborator who claimed to have made the Tanzanian the international star he is today, he still captures the hearts of the Nigerian fans. This while singing in Swahili, throughout all his songs, only inserting a few Nigerian words to relate with them.
There are also cameo appearances by compatriot Vanessa Mdee, and Nigerian celebrities among them ‘Yori Yori’ hitmakers, Bracket. The video was shot in South Africa by Godfather productions.
The success of this hit will defy the popular myth by some Kenyan artistes who believe that Swahili is not internationally appealing.
Consistency in producing excellent music seems not to be a problem for our East African brother from Tanzania, and father-to-be. Watch the video, listen to the music, and enjoy yourself. The video that has been on YouTube since Thursday has over 340,000 views.
