Uhuru nominates Hilary Mutyambai as IG Police, Boinnet appointed Tourism CAS [VIDEO]

President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated Hilary Mutyambai to be the next Inspector General of Police following the end of Joseph Boinnet’s tenure.

Mutyambai is currently the deputy director of Counter-Terrorism Coordination at National Intelligence Service.


(1) Pursuant to Article 245 (2)(a) of the Constitution, the Inspector-General of the Service shall be appointed by the President with the approval of Parliament.

(2) The President shall, within fourteen days after a vacancy occurs in the office of the Inspector-General, nominate a person for appointment as an Inspector-General and submit the name of the nominee to Parliament.

Through Executive Order No.4 of 2019, the President also appointed Boinnet as the CAS in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

Other state appointments include Wycliffe Ogalo as the Commissioner General, Kenya Prisons Service and Brig. Vincent Naisho Loonena as the Director General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service.
Brig. John Migui Waweru has been appointed as the Director General of the Kenya Wildlife Service.

The President through the same order, the President formally appointed the new commissioners of the National Police Service Commission led by Chairperson Eliud Kinuthia.

The new commissioners are Lilian Mutio Kiamba, Eusebius Karuti Laibuta, Naphtaly Kipchirchir Rono, Alice Atieno Otwala and John Tentemo Ole Moyaki.
