A 13-year-old girl who was reported to have been abducted in Nairobi’s Kabete Estate has been found in Kisumu.
The standard seven pupil was found in Kisumu’s Nyalenda Railways Estate in the custody of a 15 year old boy alleged to be her love.
Kisumu County Commandant David Ng’etich said the boy had been held in custody as police investigate into the incident.
“It is disturbing because the girl was found comfortable at the boy’s place and we are yet to locate how all these happened,” said Ng’etich.
The boy is said to have hidden his ‘love’ in his grandparent’s house where he sleeps without his parents noticing.
The kidnap incidence was reported in Nairobi last week after the girl went missing, prompting the parents to begin an intensive search.
Police were tipped by a member of the public on suspicion that the girl being looked for could have been the one spotted at the area.
Ng’etich said preliminary investigations have indicated that the girl travelled from Nairobi particularly with the intention of meeting her ‘love’.
“We want to investigate issues of defilement or any criminal motive in the incident before we can charge the suspects,” he added.
The boy will be arraigned in the juvenile court to answer to the charges.
