A 22-year-old woman is admitted to a Mombasa hospital after her husband allegedly stabbed her on the cheeks with a kitchen knife following suspicions she was having a sexual affair with a politician.
Anne Nyambura claimed the husband’s intention was to kill her. She said she reported the matter at Makupa Police Station and now wants him arrested and charged for assault.
She said her husband of five years arrived at their King’orani estate home on Saturday evening and picked a quarrel before turning violent when she suggested they should separate if the matter couldn’t be resolved peacefully.
The mother of a three-year-old daughter said the husband told her only death would seperate them and that’s why he wanted to kill or leave her with permanent scars.
“He said he would only divorce me after I am dead or leave me with permanent scars,” she claimed. Nyambura said this was not the first violent incident with him, adding that the Saturday incident was pre-meditated because he had hidden the knife under a chair.
She said she luckily escaped to her parents-in-law’s house with whom they share a flat. “They were shocked on seeing me with knife wounds. They raised the alarm and rushed me to Chakacha Clinic in Mishomoroni,” she said.
Efforts to get a response from the husband have been futile as his mobile phone has been switched off.
