Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has supported the dissolution of the Mukueni government.
Kalonzo said “shambolic leadership” has the county degraded to the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah.
“The Sodom and Gomorrah situation is in Makueni. That is the reason we demand that it should be dissolved. Machakos should also guard against going the same way,” he said.
Kalonzo was speaking at his Yatta farm in Machakos county on Saturday during his party’s elected leaders’ meeting.
He blamed Makueni MCAs for the leadership wrangles, saying they are too greedy and are “going crazy where money matters are concerned”.
Kalonzo said he will stand with Makuni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and campaign for his re-election should the county government be dissolved.
Makueni residents have presented signatures to President Uhuru Kenyatta for the dissolution of the county government.
A human rights crusader, Erastus Muisyo, has claimed there was a scheme to sabotage the residents’ drive to collect signatures on the dissolution.
Muisyo last Thursday said MCAs had attempted to interfere with the registers of signatories in the residents memorandum by introducing strangers to make the rolls presented to the President appear fake.
“Residents moved ahead of the saboteurs and collected 15,000 signatures. The Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission found 13,500 signatories genuine, which surpassed the 10,000 threshold provided by law,” he said.
Muisyo was speaking at the Wote Catholic Church Multipurpose Hall during a public forum to interrogate the performance and accountability of the county government.
The meeting was organised by the Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education.
