Worcester police: City man arrested in connection with Genessee Street shooting that targeted teen
Authorities have arrested a city man in connection with a weekend shooting that allegedly targeted a teenager on Genesee Street.
The 19-year-old wasn’t injured in the early Sunday incident, but a 29-year-old suspect was taken into custody after a Worcester police investigation.
Brian Njuguna of 54 Uxbridge St. was charged with two counts of attempted murder, assault and battery, discharging a gun within 500 feet of a building, and gun and ammo possession without a Firearms Identification Card.
Police responded to a 4:35 a.m. gunfire call in the area of Genesee Street. Upon arrival, officers recovered evidence, spoke with witnesses and interviewed the teenage victim targeted in the incident, which stemmed from an earlier fight between him and Njuguna.
After determining that Njuguna was the gunman, police located and charged him. It wasn’t immediately known if he has a lawyer.
