A Kennesaw mother faces two felonies after allegedly trying to bribe officers after driving drunk and crashing her car, which broke her daughter’s left collarbone, authorities said.
Rachel Michuki, 41, was arrested last Wednesday morning after crashing into another vehicle in the 3700 block of George Busbee Parkway, according to Cobb County police arrest warrants. The two officers that handled the incident said she had bloodshot and watery eyes when they arrived between 9:20 a.m. and 9:50 a.m.
She told police she had a few drinks the night before but had nothing to drink that morning, the warrants said. However, she allegedly failed an alcohol test at the scene.
Afterward, she offered an officer cash in exchange for not being arrested, telling the other officer that the first officer “can’t do it alone,” the warrants said.
In addition to Michuki’s daughter being a passenger in the vehicle, her mother was also in the car, the warrants said. When Channel 2 Action News visited the family’s home Tuesday, Michuki’s mother was seen with a cast on her leg, but her injury was not mentioned in the arrest warrants.
Michuki did not comment to Channel 2, but a family member said she “would not confirm or deny” that Michuki offered the bribe to officers.
She was booked into the Cobb County jail on charges of bribery, serious injury by vehicle, DUI and failure to yield, jail records show. She was released the next day on an $8,470 bond.
