Late Doris Ngaruiya

Late Doris Ngaruiya

Doris Ngaruiya fought a brave and strong battle with leukemia.  She took each day in stride and always maintained a positive outlook, despite challenging circumstances. On January 24th 2016, she was called to be with the Lord.  Her beautiful spirit will live on through her son Anderson Tesfazion, who she loved with all her heart.  She is remembered fondly by her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Doris exemplified the phrase “living life to the fullest.”  She was a loving individual, with fashion style to be envied and a great sense of humor.  Although she was battling cancer, her arduous journey did not prevent her from continuing to enjoy every single moment of every day.  Her infectious personality and energetic free spirit could be felt by anyone who knew her.

With this tribute, it is our hope that we can celebrate Doris’ life by making a donation in her name to the Hope Lodge Jerome L. Greene Family Center in New York City.  Undergoing treatment for cancer can be a very daunting experience; for many, treatment at New York City’s medical centers provides the greatest hope, but requires that they are far from home, adding the additional burden of travel and lodging expenses.

The Hope Lodge Family Center in New York City provides excellent private accommodations at no cost for cancer patients being treated in Manhattan.

While Doris was receiving treatment at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York City in the fall of 2015, she was fortunate enough to stay at the Hope Lodge Family Center, where she was

able to enjoy a peaceful and stress-free environment, where she could relax, feel at home, and spend time with other guests and visitors.

Despite being far from home, she spoke fondly of her time there and developed relationships with others who were battling cancer, most of whom she kept in contact with even after she left. It is our hope that this small donation will go toward helping another person in his/her battle.

Though she is no longer with us, her memory and spirit will forever live on in our hearts and minds.  Rest in Peace.  We miss and love you dearly.

We would like to thank everyone who donates in advance. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and truly appreciate all of the love and support.
