An American national has been arrested in Narok County.
The man who claimed to be an FBI agent was trying to enter the Maasai Mara Game Reserve illegally when he was arrested.
The suspect had told park authorities that he was there to conduct investigations, attracting the attention of security officers who demanded relevant documents to support his claim.
He was however found with no papers prompting the officers to contact the American Embassy in Nairobi who said they were not aware of any agent at the Mara.
Narok police boss Peterson Maelo said the American, who was driving a hired car, was arrested at Sikinani gate on Monday afternoon.
“Yes, we have the man but I cannot divulge more information to you now until the NSIS, and the CID officers finish interrogating him and investigations are complete,’ said Mr Maelo.
Mara Senior Game Warden James ole Sintiyio said guards manning the gates doubted the identity of the man and raised the alarm.
