Finserve Africa Ltd, which apparently owns Equity Bank Limited in Kenya, bought Equitel.com for $3,288.
Domainnamewire.com, a website that tracks the sale of domain names, reports that the bank through its subsidiary Finserve bought Equitel.com for $3,288. That translates to almost Sh300, 000.
Though this is not the first domain sale in Kenya, it is the most expensive and will probably set the trend.
Normally, a domain name goes for around $10 dollars. However, most of the names are already taken. To acquire one from an existing owner, you’ll have to agree on a premium price.
