It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that the Okoth family announces the untimely death of Bob Roberts Okoth on 20th January, 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya. He was formerly the Managing Editor at Taifa Leo, Nation Media Group.

Bob was husband to Sarah Okoth of Newark, DE. Father to Linda Okoth-Were of Lawrenceville, GA, Jill Okoth of Windsor Mill, MD, Vincent Okoth of Nairobi, Kenya, Valerie Okoth and Christopher Okoth, both of Bear, DE.

He was a loving Brother-in-Law to Florence Odinya –Obiero of Slatington, PA and many others in Nairobi, Kenya. He was a Father-in-Law to Fred Were and the late Cathy Kimatu Okoth.

He was grandfather to Allison & Joshua Were, and Eli Christopher Okoth.He was an uncle to Vincent Opiyo, Vincent Khandie, Elizabeth Omondi, Susan Nyandat, Lulu Odhiambo, Cecil Omondi Otieno, Melissa Otieno, Marcella Obiero, all of the USA and many others in Kenya and around the world. He was a cousin to Walter Opiyo of PA.

Friends and family are meeting daily for prayers and support at Sarah Okoth’s house, located at 1306 Thornhill Drive, Newark, DE, 19702, Block 1300, Door 6, from 7PM. (And in Nairobi, at his residence in Onyonka Estate, Langata, Hse no C49.)

There will be a Memorial Service and Fundraising on Saturday January 31st , 2015 at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 345 Bear Christiana Road, Bear, DE 19701 starting at 6.30pm sharp.

Former ‘Taifa’ Leo editor Bob Roberts Okoth dies at 66

A former managing editor of Taifa Leo, Bob Roberts Okoth, has died in a Nairobi hospital.

Mr Okoth, 66, succumbed to diabetes while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he had been taken on Monday with high blood pressure and breathing problems.

A family spokesman, Odhiambo Orlale, said Mr Okoth suffered cardiac arrest in the night.

“His body was later transferred to Lee Funeral Home,” he said.

Taifa Leo and Taifa Jumapili Managing Editor Nicholas Muema sent his condolences to Mr Okoth’s widow, Sarah, and her children on behalf of the Taifa team.

Mr Okoth joined the Nation Media Group in 1979. He was appointed acting managing editor of Taifa Jumapili in 1992 and later confirmed as managing editor of both Taifa Leo and Taifa Jumapili. He also penned the popular column Kibogoyo Akujibu.
