Siaya gubernatorial candidate on ODM ticket Cornel Rasanga retained his seat following Thursday’s by-election where he had taken a early lead when the vote tallying exercise kicked off.
Rasanga took an early lead and maintained the gap as the results for the by-elections tallying neared the end.
After tallying in all 665 polling stations, ODM’s Rasanga led with 106,730 compared to NAP’s William Oduol’s 62,444. Independent Candidate Noah Migudah trailed at a distant third with 1,411 votes.
These are provisional results projected by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission at the Siaya county tallying centre.
Most stations delayed in delivering results due to the heavy rains that pounded the area.
The exercise went on smoothly with just two isolated minor violence cases reported where two voters were assaulted and sustained minor injuries.
One incident occurred at Kochieng’ polling station in Alego-Usonga constituency and at Yala Township in Gem constituency.
