A man has sodomised and killed a seven-year-old boy in Kahuro subcounty.
The boy had been sent to a shop with a friend in Gitige village on Wednesday night when he met Norman Githae, 20.
Neighbours said Githae convinced the two he would escort the boy to his home as it was dark and told his friend to go home.
Githae then took the boy to a coffee farm, where he strangled and sodomised him before killing him and dumping the body in Kayahwe River.
Neighbours told the Star they heard the boy, who lived with his grandmother, screaming for help.
His grandmother Gladys Muthoni said a neighbour came to her home to alert her.
The villagers went to Githae’s home to flush him out but he police intervened and took him away.
Muthoni said in the morning, Githae directed the police to Kayahwe River where he had dumped the body.
Area police boss Johnstone Limo said Githae will be charged once investigations are complete.
